C.1900-1940's;Hartford Sterling Co. is this simple, yet defined, hammered silver over nickel, in a classical and overlapping theme of anything Greek, with this Greek Key themed Design motif, of a water carafe/pitcher and or Jug Serving piece, by this well known Philadelphia Silversmith/Sterling Silver Company in the beginning of 1900 and into the middle of 1940's, after which this company wassucceeded by another company, namedPhelps & Cary, and thus thereafter by Cary & Jacob S. Hecker & Co., New York, and Links with the Tennant Company, Active 1900/1935c.A purely iconic design theme, engraved with Greek Key details, over cross angled lines throughout the perimeter edge base and top side lip edging, the Greek key being in raised relief over these diagonal, repetitive lines, and playing off the hammered detail in an overall encompassing pattern, eclectic, yet with a wonderful patina esthetic hand in hand to the components of the design, but let us not forget, the obvious, functionality is simple, classical, traditional, an transitional, into any contemporary genre, era or interior domain, of social culture dining and entertaining.
