A hand-painted ceramic pitcher, carafe or decanter by Sicilian aristocrat turned artist, Giovanni De Simone. This piece of Italian pottery is painted in DeSimone's signature playful and vibrant colors of yellow, red, green, and blue (both dark and light). It features a wine maker stomping grapes in a wooden barrel.

This piece's aesthetic was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso, whom De Simone greatly admired. It is an amalgam of Italian folk art (simplicity, inaccuracy and crudeness of subject) coupled with Modernism in the use of color and shape.

This piece is signed on the bottom "DeSimone Italy 78". It's in great vintage condition.
